Backup Strategy
- I backup my computer and laptop locally every day using Active Backup for Business to my Synology DS920+ with four 4TB Seagate IronWolf Pro drives.
- I use different backup solutions like Google and Dropbox, but not their desktop apps. I let Synology’s Cloud Station download everything to my NAS then setup a two-way sync to my devices. That allows me to maintain a central backup, and get around things like the account limit in Google’s desktop app.
- I backup the system images and other import files remotely using Synology C2 Backup. I also have a LaCie Rugged 5TB USB-C External Hard Drive hooked up to the NAS; it gets nightly backups and is easily accessible in case of emergencies.
Desk Stuff
- We seem to lose power once or twice during the Winter so I bought the CyberPower CP1500PFCLCD PFC Sinewave UPS System 1500VA/1000W to make sure I’d have enough time to turn everything off. I wanted this specific model because it more accurately mimics sine waves, which will help lessen wear and tear on my equipment.
